David R. Damm, AIF®
Managing Partner
David R. Damm is the co-founder and Managing Partner of Carolina Wealth Management, Inc., where he serves as a senior investment advisor to individual clients and families. With more than 20 years of industry experience, David has worked with individuals to develop disciplined investment approaches for both investment and retirement accounts.
David has written investment-related articles and has hosted numerous educational seminars throughout his career. In 2018, he was quoted in Advisors Magazine in an article titled, “Educating the Public on Investing Leads to a Successful Wealth Management Firm,” which discussed the importance of investor education.
David holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation, awarded by the Center for Fiduciary Studies in association with the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Executive Education. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Appalachian State University and an MBA from East Carolina University.
Born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, David now resides in Greenville, NC with his wife, Lori, and their three children. He is actively involved in the community and enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports, and traveling.
Derek Pszenny
Managing Partner
Derek is the co-founder of Carolina Wealth Management, Inc. He serves as a senior investment advisor to individual and corporate clients. Derek also serves as the firm's liaison with other professional advisors in the areas of tax, estate, and charitable planning.
He has attained the status of Master Elite IRA Advisor with the Ed Slott IRA Expert Company. This education provides in-depth technical training on advanced retirement account planning strategies, tax law changes and estate planning techniques. The certification also features updates on the SECURE Act 2.0 with insight on its most impactful provisions, including the delayed RMD age, new early distribution penalty exceptions and several of the Roth IRA provisions such as 529 plan rollovers.
Recently, Derek has been featured in national periodicals like the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Barrons, Yahoo Finance and the USA Today to name a few.
As a former U.S. Marine, Derek believes that integrity and transparency are the most important characteristics in a financial advisor. Therefore, he devotes most of his time to educating the public about fiduciary standards of care and the fiduciary process. He learned these responsibilities while taking courses with the Foundation of Fiduciary Studies.
Derek is actively involved in several community activities and is most proud of his efforts supporting the Irreverent Warriors to prevent Veteran suicide.
Derek lives in Pinehurst, is an avid golfer and very involved in the lives of his two children.
Duff Meyer, AIF®
Institutional Director
Duff is the Director of Qualified Plans at Carolina Wealth Management. He is dedicated to helping plan sponsors understand and remain compliant in the changing regulatory environment.
Additionally, Duff has written several articles and presented to management and human resource organizations on ways to improve your qualified plan. The most popular, Five Steps to a Better Retirement Plan, is a step-by-step guide for plan sponsors to build a better 401k plan. Duff remains a consistent advocate for the plan sponsor, the plan participant and a transparent retirement plan industry.
Duff is certified as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF). AIF designees are trained in investment fiduciary responsibility and portfolio management.
Duff lives in Pinehurst with his wife and enjoys fishing, golfing and reading.
JONATHAN BLACKWELL, Certified Financial Planner™
Jonathan is a Certified Financial Planner™ at Carolina Wealth Management. Jonathan is in his 25th year working in the financial services and a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner since 2004.
Actively involved in the Triangle since 1998, he has been through the Leadership Cary program, served on the board of the Lucy Daniels Center and volunteered in the past with the MS150, Jaycees, Junior Achievement and Raleigh, Cary and Garner Chambers of Commerce.
Born and raised outside of Charlotte, Jonathan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from N.C. State University. He currently resides in Chapel Hill with his wife, daughter, three dogs, a cat, ten chickens and six goats. He enjoys hiking, camping, fly fishing and working on his mini-farm.
Parish Parker, AIF®, CRPS®
Institutional Advisor
As an Institutional Advisor with Carolina Wealth Management, Parish helps plan sponsors establish and maintain qualified retirement plans through comprehensive plan design, investment management, participant education, and ongoing ERISA fiduciary support. His 15 years experience in the retirement plan industry have helped him establish a track record of plan sponsor excellence. Additionally, Parish works with individual plan participants and their beneficiaries by providing transparent recommendations that lead to successful retirement outcomes.
Prior to joining Carolina Wealth Management, Parish worked for a regional bank Trust division managing Institutional clients with Qualified Retirement plans, including Defined Benefit and Cash Balance plans. He also worked for two national record keeping firms serving as the qualified plan expert on behalf of advisors. Parish is certified as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) and Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist (CRPS®). He received a Business Administration degree from Florida Southern College.
Originally from Florida, Parish is married with 2 boys and has lived in the Triangle since 2007. He enjoys spending time with his family and enjoys golf while staying active with an occasional triathlon, run or open-water swim.
Adam Osterbur,
Director of Client Services
Adam serves as Director of Client Service for Carolina Wealth Management, where he directs all client service functions and helps ensure every client receives a responsive, thoughtful, and personalized experience.
Since joining Carolina Wealth in 2017, Adam has been committed to building strong relationships with clients and supporting them with care, consistency, and attention to detail.
Before joining Carolina Wealth, Adam spent 12 years as a Class A PGA Golf Professional, an experience that strengthened his service-first approach and ability to connect with people. He is also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, bringing discipline, leadership, and dedication to his role each day.
Adam earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Lincoln College in Illinois and has passed the Series 65 exam. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and their two sons, Andrew and Aram. He also enjoys golf, running, watching his boys play sports, camping with his family, and traveling.
Jorge Martinez, Advisor/Client Service
Jorge Martinez serves as an Advisor and Office Administrator at Carolina Wealth Management. Since joining the firm in 2023, Jorge helps coordinate the firm’s day-to-day operations and technology initiatives, working to create an organized, responsive, and personalized client experience.
Jorge passed the Series 65 UIA Law Examination and earned his degree in Business Administration from East Carolina University, along with a Certificate in Entrepreneurship. His education and professional experience allow him to approach financial planning with both an analytical mindset and an appreciation for each client’s individual goals.
As a fluent Spanish speaker, Jorge understands that financial conversations can sometimes feel complicated or inaccessible. He is passionate about helping individuals and families better understand their financial options and feel more confident about their future. He takes pride in communicating clearly, building meaningful relationships, and assisting clients.
A Greenville native and ECU graduate, Jorge values the opportunity to serve clients in Eastern North Carolina and the community that helped shape him. Outside the office, he enjoys running, weight training, live music, and spending time with his family.
